Great winter commuting article in recent Urban Velo

For those considering testing your grit in the snow and cold, or even for those already out there doing it, there is a really informative tip-sheet sort of article in the latest Urban Velo:

For many people, the cold temperatures and slippery conditions make winter cycling a daunting proposition. For other people, it’s an exciting opportunity to test their meddle [sic]. And yet some people simply have no choice but to do it. The following tips are primarily aimed at beginners, but may be of use to more seasoned cyclists.

Indianapolis's Own on Cover of Urban Velo

Indianapolis's "Masi Mark" Alford is a rising star. Check him out on the cover of the latest Urban Velo, crushing away at the sprints at this year's NACCC in Boston.

This isn't the first time an Indy local has popped up in Urban Velo. "The" Shawn Wolf was spotted last year in Urban Velo's coverage of the 2008 NACCC in Chicago.

Vote for Jeff!

Some of you may have already seen this over at Urban Velo, but Jeff Guerrero is featured in this week's poll over at Bike Retailer, "Who's your favorite bike consumer pub journalist/personality?"

Jeff is definitely a great journalist and and even better dude. Head on over to the poll and help a brother out with a vote.

Go Figure.

Our buddy, Jeremy, snapped some great shots around NAHBS last Saturday. Just just up'ed them on his Tumblr.

Follow the link at the end of his highlights post for more shots from his Flickr that include some new pals--Don Walker, the Urban Velo crew, Alexis from Villin Cycle Works, and others.

Local Celeb: Congrats, Jer.

Our good friend and contributor to our fledgling site, Jeremy Albert, went with me to shoot some photos for a NUVO article about Don Walker and the upcoming North American Handmade Bike Show.

Evidently, someone over at the not-so-fledging site, Urban Velo, stumbled upon his Flickr, and featured him in a post. Check out his feature on UV and show him some love.

And, if you didn't know about Urban Velo before, you should. Great dudes, and great work. Subscribe to them if you can afford it, or you can also read the copy Joe's Cycles always has laying around. They'll be at NAHBS next week, too, so check out their booth.
